About Me

Welcome,

I’m Eileen, the creator of The Joy of Caking.  I started blogging over five years ago to let some of the creativity that was bottling up inside of me out and now I can’t imagine life without a blog.

Through my writings and photography I enjoy sharing delicious recipes, DIY projects like the renovation of my 1972 Frolic travel trailer, great products, and glimpses of  country life  in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of New York State where my hubby and I live with one crazy dog, backyard chickens, ducks, and yes, even a couple of turkeys.

I am proud to have worked with some great companies like King Arthur Flour, Ghirardelli Chocolates, Natures Pride Bread, Dannon Yogurt, Marx Foods, the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce, SweetWorks Inc., HersheyBlair Candy Company, Upstate Farms, Domino Sugar, Villeroy and BochNaples Valley Brand Products, Standing Stone Vineyards, Libbey Glass, Chobani Yogurt, and Temptation Candy.

I’m always interested in freelance opportunities so if you have something in mind just give me a shout.

And of course I love to hear from my readers – so don’t be shy!

Eileen

  1. Lovely blog…so glad you found me so that I could discover yours! I look forward to seeing your future posts, photographs and adventures [love that camper!].

  2. Hi Eileen 😊
I had never seen your blog before this morning… But a few friends shared your Willard Psych Hospital visit and I was intrigued! (I grew up near there, both my parents worked at Willard and my Mom retired from there after 45 or so years…)
Anyway… Love the blog and will likely go back and read other pieces you have posted… I am not trying to be too very critical but am an old English major and longtime editor/publisher (career graphic designer)… If I had the free time I would proof your blog. 😊😊 I am one of those annoying people who cannot even read a menu without finding a typo. 😳 If it’s worth anything, please edit your Willard blog and use “its” instead of “it’s”. It’s is short for ‘it is’ and Its is possessive… (ie: “it’s no big deal” and “its doors opened”…)
Sorry to be a bummer… 😞 Great story though!!! 😊
    Blog on.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Kim. I have always said if I had one wish where my blog was concerned, it would be to have a personal editor 🙂 Believe me when I say this, I get frustrated trying to be grammatically correct – LOL! Thanks for sharing your story about Willard. Maybe one day I will write a book about the place and you can edit it for me. I’m off to fix my it’s and its 🙂 Please stop back!

  5. Your pictures and recipes are great! Both my husband and I grew up in the Finger Lakes and they hold a very special place in my heart, even though we now live in different part of the state. So glad I came across your blog and I look forward to reading more! 🙂
