What inspired me to make this recipe?
Lemons … Not really.
And, what did I make? Holy cow!
A Vanilla cake with lemon curd filling, and lemon buttercream icing.
There is little, that is more beautiful (in the world of baking) than a huge layer cake with a delectable filling nestled between each and every layer. When I see one of these cakes, I ogle… The cake, and lemon curd recipe was adapted from Elinor Klivans cookbook Cupcakes! The icing recipe was adapted from Betty Crocker’s Cookbook

This is such a beautiful cake! I can almost taste the sweet tartness of the lemon curd and that lemon icing. Yum! Now I’m wanting a piece for breakfast:)
I LOVE lemon filling but I’ve never had lemon buttercream before! Now that sounds incredibly delicious. Your cake looks so tasty, I could eat the whole cake. Mmmm
Four layers of PURE deliciousness, and lemon is my favorite! Love your photos. Thanks for the vote and stopping by my neighborhood!
What a gorgeous cake! That cow if funny. =)
HA–loving the cow!
You are so right about a big over-the-top layer cake being the king of pastries! There’s probably nothing a craze more. The looks absolutely divine!
You are a Goddess! On my to-do list this weekend was a note from my husband to make cookies or cupcakes (he noted he would prefer cupcakes). I’m making these tomorrow and I too will be a Goddess!
Beautiful! Love vanilla and lemon together. I discovered home made lemon curd a few weeks ago and now I’m addicted! It’s a great cake filling
